A Brood of Vipers

The bordello was in sight, and no little amount of relief showed in her eyes as they approached it. She was always glad to return home at the end of the day, whether it be for amusement or relaxation - tonight had her feeling there would be both. Sontaire’s ears grew hot as she felt him looking down at her (height was just one of those things) and the womer chuckled, “I should come with a warning. I’d hate for someone to meet me unaware of what a beast I am.”

There was a hint of a flush on her ears. How utterly charming. He picked up the pace a little, enough for her to notice. She was most perceptive. “I’m sure nobody has ever dared question your viciousness and gone unpunished, my dear.”

The increased pace gratified—they reached the door of the establishment and he swept it open for her. The act was just a hair below “theatrical.”

“I’m fierce, Judas! Cutthroat, even. You don’t want to make me get serious about these things…” Her nose wrinkled in a playful snarl and she laughed, snarl turning into a broad and amused grin. On her own she drifted nearer, bringing her hand across to his and allowing her fingertips to delicately trail over the back of it.

He responded to her proximity with another laugh (though it just as easily might have been in response to her comment), directing his attention downward toward her fully with a certain degree of pride. “I do believe you are quite correct, but then, I have no doubt that your charm is perhaps even more dangerous than your ferocity.”

“That sounds absolutely delightful. Trust you to procure the very finest.” He kept pace with her easily and offered his arm. “As usual, of course.” Just a little laugh. Flattery was always a worthy diversion and she a most worthy subject…

As usual Sontaire was easily flattered by him - this circumstance, though she was under slightly more stress, was no different. His presence seemed to help her unwind on the regular in more than just the usual ways. Sliding her arm around his, her heart gave a faint flutter, though she did not let the sensation disrupt her appearance in the slightest. “I go to great lengths to do so - I’ve killed for less.” The womer joked with a sly smirk.

He placed the opposite hand over hers, managing to pull her just a little closer without the merest effort. “Well, I certainly wouldn’t put such ruthlessness past you.” He gave a wry smile, just a hint of teeth and a sidelong look down at her. “Especially in the pursuit of fine food and drink.”

“If you wish, I would certainly not be opposed. It would be much superior to the sorts I’ve been taking in my travels, I’m sure.” It seemed wise to ignore her troubles for the time being, at least. And probably more comforting. The last thing a person in a state needed was constant reminder that they were, indeed, in a state.

She chuckled and nodded off in the direction of the Bordello, beginning to walk without waiting, assuming he would follow, “I wouldn’t stand another evening of subjecting you to the Nordic swill. Dreadful, uncultured slosh, that. Why, I’ve recently gotten a bottle of wine from Shimmerene, and another from Dusk. I’m still waiting on the Sunhold shipment…”

He took the offered hand and bowed just a little over it. “I am terribly sorry to hear it, my dear. I do hope my company will serve to remove your mind from these troubles for at least a small amount of time.”

His condolences brought blush to her cheeks that spread to her ears, and bashfully she side-eyed him, “Oh, no, it is quite alright… you do enough how you are. I just need to take my mind off of it. But please — tell me, would you like any wine when we arrive…? I might as well ask ahead of time so we might ponder the kinds.”

“Perfectly acceptable. Even, I daresay, preferable. I have had enough of the performing that the public eye demands, at least for the time being.”

“Understandable.” Sontaire nodded, holding out her hand to him, “I’ve simply been having a difficult time. It’s best not to dwell on these things, but… sometimes I can’t help it.”

I could hardly hold it against you, given my gracious and absolutely irresistible nature…Where shall we go?

“Humility, one of your strongest qualities…

Good question. I was thinking you could just join me at the Bordello, if it’s not too much for you. I haven’t the humours to go out and about at the moment…” Sontaire sighed, looking away momentarily.

"Perfectly acceptable. Even, I daresay, preferable. I have had enough of the performing that the public eye demands, at least for the time being."

I would love to, though I must confess I have a hard time believing one as interesting as you would ever find herself bored. Perhaps it has merely been lack of good company…

That would be the culprit. I’m fairly certain you’ve made me too attached to you. I hope you don’t mind if I place the blame…

sontaire replied to your post: Ah, Judas! I’ve missed you… how have you been, darling?

I’m so sorry to hear it, my dear. Care to have a nice dinner with me, then? I’ve been the deadly “lonely” and “bored” as of late.

I would love to, though I must confess I have a hard time believing one as interesting as you would ever find herself bored. Perhaps it has merely been lack of good company…

Terribly, terribly bored. Duty called me to Markarth, but sadly enough the arrangements fell through. Disappointing, all that travel for nothing more than a few days of dull small-talk with officers…
